Understanding Facial Sweating
Although sweating is normal and natural in the human body, there is a certain point that can be reached where it is not normal, and where it becomes problematic. When the natural perspiration in some people is excessive, it is known as excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis, which is a physical condition that is caused by the malfunctioning of the sympathetic nervous system or disorders of the sweat glands.
There are four main types of excessive sweating which are:
* Palmar
* Axillary
* Plantar
* Facial
Facial sweating appears in unexpected moments and does not need to be triggered by factors such as stress or emotional uncertainty.
The facial sweating condition may manifest itself in the most embarrassing situations, such as while talking to people or giving a presentation at work etc.. With females the facial sweating condition can pose an even larger problem because they can have a hard time putting on makeup and keeping it from running once they have applied it.
Treatment for Facial Sweating
If you have a facial sweating problem, then you should know that there are a few different treatments that are available to you.
There is the iontophoresis procedure, which places the affected area in a device that has two pails of water with a conductor in each one, and the hand or foot then acts as a conductor between the positively and negatively charged pails. Then as the low current passes through the area, the minerals in the water clog the sweat glands, thus limiting the amount of sweat that is released.
There are also various forms of oral medication that are available, and in particular a class of anticholinergic drugs are available that have been shown to reduce hyperhidrosis. Ditropan is another commonly prescribed medication for this condition, however you should never take this or any other type of medication without discussing it with your doctor first, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to get pregnant.
Surgery is one option that might be considered as a last resort. In this case, select sympathetic nerves or nerve ganglia in the chest are either cut or burned.
Sweating is a serious condition that can cause great detriment to one’s life, but you have to remember that there are ways that you can treat and control your sweating problem. So you should never feel as though there are no options, or as though you are helpless, because this is completely untrue. There are many natural cures and treatments for this condition!
